Who is Lázár Kovács?

 


You really don't know him? Well, it is not hard to get to know him, because he is sometimes here and sometimes there, but mostly at places where he can cook something delicious.

 

It all started out in his grandma’s kitchen where he learnt the basics of gastronomy by watching closely and later went on to catering school for further training.
In Alabárdos, one of Hungary’s best restaurants, in Buda Castle, he climbed on the steps of the career ladder; starting as a washer upper and leaving as a manager when he opened his own restaurant called “Lázár Vendéglője”.

 

With his partner Géza Kaszás he presented one of the most popular TV cookery shows, Receptklub, and thus cooked his way into the kitchens of the people.

For a year he cooked on the other side of the Atlantic as the chef of the Hungarian Embassy in Washington, making Hungarian cuisine popular. His put his American experiences with stories and recipes in a book.
